Cooper Pest Solutions is Honored as a Top Small Company to Work for in 2010
Inc. Magazine honors Cooper Pest Solutions as One of the Nation’s Top 40 Companies to Work for Alongside the New York Jets by Providing Employees with a Company Culture like no Other.

Lawrenceville, N.J. (June, 21, 2010)—Cooper Pest Solutions of Lawrenceville, N.J. has been honored as one of the top small companies to work for in the nation by Inc. Magazine based on the company’s explosive growth in difficult economic times, company culture, commitment to professional development and employee perks.

Inc. Magazine is a national publication that covers fast-growing business and offers advice to company owners and CEOs on how to start, run and grow their businesses.

As one of only 40 companies in the nation to receive high-honors from Inc. Magazine, Cooper Pest Solutions (CPS) was the only pest management firm in the country to be recognized for its company culture and business performance.

In New Jersey, the only other company to be honored was the National Football League’s New Jersey-based franchise the New York Jets. Company president and CEO, Phillip Cooper, was humbled to receive honors among some of the nation’s top businesses.

“When we received news that Inc. magazine had considered us not only one of the best run pest management companies in the nation but also one of the best run companies in the nation period, I was floored,” said Cooper. “It’s great to be recognized among some of the highest performing companies in the United States.”

The benefits that made Cooper Pest Solutions (CPS) standout from other companies was their willingness to invest in employees and their unique benefit programs, which includes $12,000 in tuition assistance and professional development coaches for employees. CPS also provides transportation for employees that include light trucks for technicians and Toyota Scions for the sales staff. CPS has also invested in a mental wellness program to help employees handle life’s stresses.

Inc. magazine also gave praise to the CPS company culture that has provided employees with a cyber café that sports plush leather seats a full kitchen and a high-definition TV so workers can unwind. If employees need to freshen up after a bike commute, they also have access to a shower.

CPS brings the same catering approach to customer relations, when potential clients enter the building they are not greeted by a receptionist, but rather a Director of First Impressions. But why does Cooper go to this extent to ensure his employees are comfortable?

“The answer is simple, the happier and more comfortable your employees are, the more they are willing to work for you and really dig deep to put in the extra effort and achieve results,” said Cooper. “I want them to be so comfortable that they never want to leave!”

Cooper strongly believes in investing in employee education and professional development because that upfront investment pays greater dividends over the long term by way of more skilled and competent employees. With the average retention of employees at seven years, Cooper has found a successful formula.

CPS has experienced a record breaking year for revenue in 2009 despite a faltering state and national economy. In 2010, has added several key staff members to keep up with business growth. There’s no doubt that as this company continues to prosper, so will Cooper’s workplace and his employees.

In order to be considered for Inc. Magazine’s Top Small Company Workplaces award, each company had to have less than 750 employees, earn less than $500 million, be based in North America, and be a fully independent company (not privately held).

Winners of this honor are chosen based on the type of environment they cultivate for employees. The key considerations for this award include business growth, company culture, commitment to professional development, employee retention and employee perks.

For unbiased results, Inc. Magazine relies on third-party non-profit, Winning Workplaces, that specializes in employee satisfaction to identify the most impressive companies and the benefits offered to employees.
