Cooper Gives Back: Community Outreach
Cooper Pest Solutions, a family-owned business located in Lawrenceville, N.J., has been a permanent fixture in the community since 1955 and is well known for their green and 'bug-eyed' trucks that can be seen throughout NJ and parts of PA. Cooper's emphasis on community involvement is evident the moment you walk through the front doors and see their beautiful historical timeline. In 2005, the Lawrenceville Historical Society recognized this timeline, of Lawrence Station Road, as a historical landmark in Mercer County. One of Cooper's top priorities is to consistently give back to the community. To jump start the fall, Cooper Pest has made donations to the Harvest Fest in Yardley, PA, participated in a regional fundraising event for Multiple Sclerosis, and received an award from The Bucks-County Courier Times.
Bike MS: City to Shore 2008
This past weekend Philip Cooper, along with all 50+ Cooper Pest employees, participated in the Bike MS: City to Shore 2008 Bike Tour. Of the top 250 fundraisers for the event, local business owner, Phillip Cooper was ranked #7 in fundraising efforts, raising more than $20,000. Phillip Cooper, President of Cooper Pest Solutions, has participated in this event for the past 15 years.
Phil Cooper is the captain of Team Spin, which is a group of selfless dedicated individuals who spend months training for a 150-mile bike ride in September to raise funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
“I am passionate about the MS150 and will continue to ride until we find a cure,” said Cooper. “Not only do I ride, but everyone in my company participates in some manner or another, from riding to volunteering. It just is one of the ways we believe in giving back to the community.”
Riders were given the option of various cycling routes ranging from a 25-mile route to a 175-mile route, both with rest stops along the way. The City to Shore Bike Tour traveled through eighteen townships in New Jersey in just two days.
More then 1,200 volunteers and over 7,000 cyclists rode more then 150 miles to support research, programs, and services for people with multiple sclerosis in the largest-ever Bike MS City to Shore Ride.
The Cooper staff also provided yellow jacket trapping for the event. This ensured that the cyclists would not get stung by any yellow jackets at any of the rest stops. The annual value for this kind of service provided is approximately $10,000. Cooper Pest's support and involvement was instrumental to the success of this event for such a worthy cause.
Harvest Fest, Yardley PA
Yardley's 39th annual Harvest Fest was first on the list for Cooper Pest Solutions donation efforts. The Harvest Fest, held on September 27th, is a family-oriented day sponsored by The Makefield Women's Association and the Yardley Business Association. The Makefield Women's Association (MWA) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to giving back to the community and the Yardley Business Association has supported businesses and the local community for the past 25 years.
The day promises fun for all ages with family-oriented festivities and over 130 fine arts and crafts exhibitors. In addition, families were able to enjoy live entertainment and a diverse food court.
"I live just outside of Pennsylvania in New Jersey and every year I make the drive to Harvest Fest because it is such a unique and fun event," said Stephanie Madden, employee at Cooper Pest. "I was happy to hear that my company was donating and supporting such a great event."
As well as providing families with a fun Saturday afternoon, the event also had a raffle, and 100% of ticket sales went to benefit Penndel Food Pantry and Mommy's Light. Cooper Pest's additional donation was in the form of yellow jacket trapping. Cooper Pest's donation to the event ensured that no one would get stung by yellow jackets while enjoying the festivities of the day. The annual value for this kind of service provided is estimated at approximately $10,000.
Bucks County Courier Times: Best of Bucks
As well as giving back to the community, Cooper Pest was recognized for their excellence in providing top-notch pest control to the residents of Bucks County and was the recipient of the 2008 Best of Bucks award for Pest Control. This is the 4th consecutive time Cooper Pest has won the Best of Bucks Award.
